WEEKEND TREAT (Part 2)

As they say, kids can't get enough...

Rayvick Edrae has been requesting another water-playing activity which he and sister Rayvick Grachel enjoyed last week...He just can't forget the idea and asked me and Papa Mund non-stop...

I actually felt guilty knowing that we would not be able to spend weekends with them as Bhebhe Mund and I planned to go to Bangkok (which obviously did not happen...thanks to Avian flu...).  I guess now there's no reason for guilt.

As Jurong Bird Park is quite far from where we stay, we opted to go to Children's World in Singapore Zoo...Bhebhe Mund and I went off early to collect my renewed passport...Yaya Tess has prepared swimsuits and extra clothes for the kids...All set...then the bad news...

Bhebhe Mund had a slight fever and going to the zoo will not be a good idea...Rayvick Edrae was really disappointed and just slept the whole afternoon...Mama Thoyz to the rescue...I really need to think fast to make it up to them...

So off we go to Swensens for dinner. The staff who assisted us was really nice she even played with the kids and surprised them with balloons...

(Pictures are not so great...they were taken using my handphone...I just want to capture the moment)

After dinner, we brought them to Timezone. I'm really not sure what's happening though.
As soon as we got there, lady luck seemed to be on our side. We started with the machine where you try to bring stuffed toys to the exit just so you can win them (what do you call that by the way). One swipe and we won a small stuffed toy, a small consolation prize in a basket which you could also get by accumulated points.

Our luck never ended there. I tried one more time and swiped our card hoping to get another consolation prize. But what I got was this:

I guess Timezone is making up to me then...

Weekend Treat

It's really hard being a working mom. And my working schedule is not making it any easier. My job requires me to work on weekends which makes it more difficult.

Today, me and Bhebhe Mund decided to give our kids a weekend treat...in Jurong Bird Park.

I remember during the first few months of our stay here in Singapore, Jurong Bird Park has been our tambayan. We would go there at least every other week. Rayvick Edrae was still young and I am not too sure whether he can still remember those times.

BHEBHE MUND, RAYVICK EDRAE and ME
DEC 2000

We haven't been to that place for a long time since our last visit. And we thought it's the right time to re-visit the place now that Rayvick Edrae is a grown up kid who will surely enjoy the place with her little sister Rayvick Grachel.

Well, the fun began at Splash N Slide Station where our 2 Rayvicks had a really good time going up and down the slides, taking rides and water playing.

They went up...

And down...

Played characters in their imagination...

We thought they won't stop...but we're wrong...they needed to recharge...

After their snack, they continued playing...until their energy level went down...and down...and down...

But we're quite sure they will cherish the experience...even in their dreams...

Now you see me...now you don't....now you see me...

It's been a looooooonnnnggggggg time since my last entry. I have a lot to talk about...well, after few months of keeping all the memories inside my head, I sure have a lot to share...It's just a matter of refreshing everything that's been registered inside my brain and sending signals to my fingers on words to type...

But I've got a little problem, I am not good at remembering things from way back...And my close friends can testify to that...And you got to bear with me...

So I'm planning to start one thing at a time...what's important is that I already started...and I'm planning to continue what I've started...

An intimate evening....

The Best of Broadway
An Intimate Evening with Lea Salonga
24 April 2005, 7:30 PM
Esplanade Concert Hall

Bhebhe Mund bought tickets for Lea Salonga's concert here in Singapore. It's not that we are avid fans of Kim from Miss Saigon. But because we wanted to see how a Filipino artist performs in another country and be proud of it.

We came in Esplanade a bit early. We spent a little time outside the concert hall chatting and hanging out with some other Pinoys who also came early. The place was cozy and we prepared ourselves for a night of great performance.

It's time for us to enter the concert hall which I should say is really huge and grand. We were seated near the entrance so we made use of extra time by guessing nationalities of every guests. Though most of them are Pinoys, we were quite surprised by the number of Chinese and Caucasian guests who really are in their best intimate concert outfits. Luckily I put an extra effort in choosing what to wear for the concert.

Then the concert began...She appeared in stage...Very simple but elegant..Her voice was powerful...Everybody was in silence...But everytime she finished a song, the whole crowd made noise...expressing their appreciation of her voice...She was also very good in entertaining the audience in between songs...sharing personal stories from her childhood to being Kim of Miss Saigon...As a wrap, it was a great concert...

Bhebhe Mund made the night more special with a wine during concert break...overlooking the river and the bright lights of Singapore....aahhh, it was really an intimate evening....

Just when I almost hated him so much

I’m a typical employee…and like any other employees out there, I hate my boss. It’s not really the hate-you-wish-you’ll-die kind of hatred. Nothing personal… it’s the normal thing a subordinate feels for his superior.

We’ll be leaving next week for our summer vacation in Philippines. And although I have informed everybody that I’ll be away for 3 weeks in May, I have never filed my leave yet. There’s this feeling that I don’t want to waste any day without pay…in short, I don’t want any unpaid leave. I must admit, I have no enough annual leave to sustain my 3 week vacation. I only have 5 AL to use. But I still want to receive my salary in full…with little bit of extra…

I thought I have no other choice…I have to file my leave or else they’ll no longer allow me…

And there I was having my shower planning to file my leave (paid and unpaid) when my phone rang. I told myself, Damn it! They’ll never stop bothering me. I checked who called and it was my boss. I was quite sure he has nothing to follow-up. I called him back and to my surprise, he had given me paid time-off which I can use for my vacation. Not only that, he kept sending me messages to urgently file the time-off so he can approve.

Well, I almost completely hate him…but changed my mind a bit…

He told me to keep the paid time off thing between the two of us…well, I don’t know about that…

COUNTDOWN.....

Exactly two weeks from now, we'll be in Manila for a three-week vacation. I've been sending Hubby Bhebhe and my boss countdown emails...I also have a calendar where I cross out passing dates (well, my officemates are now calling me prisoner...counting the days of my sentence)....

I actually don't have any reason to be so excited. In fact, I just came back last year from a 10 month stay in Pinas and my parents also visited us late last year.

Maybe what makes this vacation exciting is the fact that we could have all the time for our kids...no work, no pressure, no office calls....just plain good quality time. This would also be Rayvick Grachel's first trip as a grown baby..(she was only 2 months old when she first took a plane ride). Rayvick Edrae will be celebrating his 5th birthday in Pinas that also adds up to the excitement.

Me and Hubby Bhebhe are already planning where to bring the kids for our entire stay. And to capture those exciting moments, he surprised me ( and I mean really surprise...) with a camera. He said our old one could not suffice its purpose. I never raise an argument...I got the point.

Friends are great....

My social life is at its peak....after months of completely putting behind how it feels to be stress-free, I finally spare quality time for myself....

We celebrated Ipay's birthday with a dinner and dance party....literally speaking. We went out with our hubbies for a dinner which filled in our tummies with Thai foods. Then the party started...Everything was great...the band, the music, the drinks....and not to forget all our friends who undoubtedly made everything so perfect.

Just a couple of days after, I had a dinner with my office-friends. As planned, we went to Bottle Tree which is also located near Buckaroo in Andrews Road. We spent the whole night eating, talking and laughing....and mind you, we never talk about office issues even once. It was a great night.

Friends are GREAT....they help me release the pressure inflicted by the nature of my job, they help me ease all burdens, and they help me realize I'm a person entitled to happiness......

I love my friends.......

SIMPLE JOY....

Found another FRIENDS VCD to add to my collection. Now, I have Seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7. Actually, seasons 3 and 7 are available...But Hubby Bhebhe told me he could only buy me one...so I have to choose the latest one...

He also bought something for him....the completion of his Lord of the Rings collection...The Two Towers....
The Lord of the Rings is his ultimate favorite...HIS PRECIOUS.....he knows every single character and every single place in the movie. He has watched them over and over again. If Kris Aquino would ask him a million peso question about that trilogy, I bet we'll be instant millionaires!

These simple things really make us excited....make us happy....and what would be more exciting than being happy with the ones you love most.....

Our Prince Charming

No more pencils....No more books.....
No more teachers' dirty looks.......
Yipeeeee!!!!!!

It's a one-week school holidays from 14th to 18th of March......Kids can sleep and wake up late...They can play as long as they want.....And no homeworks and acitivity books to worry about.....

We planned Rayvick Edrae's activities for this week.....Actually, most of them would be spent playing Xbox games, watching endless cartoons, and play, play, play......

Bhebhe Mund bought a new X-Box game for him...the Lord of the Rings....an additional to his collection of Xbox games.....Though he has a new one, X-men and Shrek remained his favorite games....and since there's no school for a week, his playing time has no limit.....unless of course it's time for him to eat his meal....even his snacks are served by Yaya Tess inside our kids' room.....he can't afford to lose any minute of playing....it was his only chance to a never-ending playing time...well, he's losing that soon......

Then we watched a movie he liked....Robots....an animated film featuring mechanical beings....and what else could complete a wacky movie but a tumbler of his favorite sweet popcorn.....

Another day was set for amusement arcade and video games....the Timezone....as Bhebhe Mund puts it, to makes things a bit different from the usual Xbox and PC games.....though we had a not-so-nice experience there that night (which I intend to post the story in my next entry), it was ok.....but I don't think Edrae enjoyed it as much as he does playing Xbox.....

We also limited our TFC viewing to give way to cartoon channels for him and Rayvick Grachel....we also spent bonding time with him in Burger King which he prefers more than McDonalds or KFC.....

Bhebhe Mund and I managed to do all these despite our hectic schedules in the office...Just imagine myself almost running from the office to meet Bhebhe Mund and Rayvick Edrae for the 7:30PM movie schedule......or imagine me trying to sneak out of a meeting so we could go early to Timezone.....

Haaaayyyy....anything for the kids......anything........

MY SPECIAL DAY.....

I celebrated my 28th birthday recently....not just a day but 4 day long celebration...and I'll be forever thankful to my Bhebhe Mund...Edrae & Grachel...my friends specially Che, Malou, Elen and Ipay...and my colleagues...

March 11 - Bisperas
The celebration started the night before my birthday. Che, Elen, Malou and her hubby Noel stayed at my house till midnight. I wasn't prepared coz I came from work so we settled our hunger with KFC and Pizza Hut delivery. Malou brought me my birthday cake and of course I made a wish and blew my candles....

March 12 - The Big Day
I didn't invite friends for my birthday. Anyway, my friends and I planned to go to Batam for lunch and some shopping the day after my birthday so I spent the whole day with Bhebhe Mund, Edrae and Grachel. We went to Swensens in Causeway Point for dinner. Again, I made a wish and blew the candle on my ice cream (yes, it's ice cream not cake).

Bhebhe Mund asked me to do some shopping and told me to choose whatever I want coz it's my birthday. He's so lucky coz i was not in the mood for shopping. I just bought some clothes and accessories...that's all.

Before my birthday ended, he gave me a birthday present which I thought would just be an extra gift since he claimed that our PR approval was already his birthday present for me.

March 13 - The day after
As planned, me and my friends Che, Malou, Elen, and Ipay went to Batam, Indonesia for lunch and shopping. We all wanted to make this day special...and we talked, talked and talked and can't afford to waste time without each other so we opted to rent a cab that can accomodate all of us. The whole time going to Harbourfront was filled with laughters and stories. And what can we expect with the time we spent in the ferry going to Indonesia....it was hilarious!

Malou arranged a van for us to use in Batam...and although what we had in the end was just a normal car, it was ok. Our first stop was GOLDEN PRAWN RESTAURANT.

The food was great...fresh...actually, still alive. We had a great time trying to catch prawns which tried their best to go back to water and fight for their lives. I almost felt bad for the prawns, but I only could say sorry...and still eat them....

We ate like there's no more next meal. We had steamed oysters, chilli crabs, black pepper crabs, buttered prawns, steamed fish, and kangkong with garlic.....and we seemed not contented.

We were all pigging out when Che realized that her bag was wet...only because of the free water from the ferry. Too bad ...her newly bought handphone, passport and return ticket were all inside her bag. We let all her things dried up and never realized that we were near the sea and it's too windy. Her passport and return ticket were blown away...luckily, Malou managed to grab her passport....but the return ticket was swept by water...she needed to buy another ticket to Singapore. What a day for my dear friend! And did I mention that her handphone was useless until the time we went back to Singapore.....

March 14 - Two days after
My colleagues planned a dinner with one of our suppliers to celebrate my birthday (for free!). We went to Buckaroo in Andrews Road and ate steaks, pizzas and onion rings. We planned our next dinner and actually visited the venue...The Bottle Tree

It's really nice celebrating birthday with the ones you love...I hope to celebrate it again with them next year......

(By the way, the pictures are not great coz I just used my handphone. I simply don't want to miss the happy moments....)
